Ahh....where to begin. How about the beginning. As you all may or may not know, Stef and I met at a Halloween Party that I was hosting. She walked in the door and it was love at first site. This being said, Halloween is more of a special holiday for us than a scary one. So, early in October of 08 while Stef was out of town, I walked into Zales and started looking at rings. After a very short time I found one that instantly reminded me of her. I bought it on the spot and had them resize it. My original plan was to wait for New Years Eve and propose, but as soon as she got back in town, I knew I couldn't wait that long. I still wanted a special occasion and as Halloween was fast approaching I thought it would be perfect. We both have houses close to the foot hills, which is at the base of the Sandia Mountains, and go hiking there from time to time. On Halloween day, I sent her a Gchat message saying that we should go on a hike after work. I'm sure she was a little confused as we still had pumpkins to carve, but luckily for me she didn't ask any questions. When we left without the dogs, I think she was further confused but again, didn't ask. In the foothills, there is this one peak that juts out of nowhere, and is a good 500 feet above everything else in the area. I started climbing up it and Stef followed. I was so nervous the entire hike up that I didn't say anything. By the time we got near the peak, I was so nervous that I kept loosing my footing. Once we got to the top, we had a beautiful panoramic view of Albuquerque. I had a whole speech planned out, but once I started it just turned into a babble. Once I realized that the whole talking thing wasn't working out so well, I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. She said yes, we kissed, and that's the story of our proposal.
